2025 IEEE CH Workshop on Protecting the future of cultural heritage: Secure Digital Twins for sustainable preservation (ARGUS)
Florence, Italy (hybrid event) • September 8–10, 2025
We invite contributions for the IEEE CH workshop: ‘Protecting the Future of Cultural Heritage: Digital Twins for Sustainable Preservation’. Cultural heritage faces significant challenges due to environmental, climatic, anthropogenic and digital threats. Innovative digital solutions such as digital twins, AI and multimodal data fusion for monitoring and analysis are essential to address them, which are necessary steps for heritage protection. This workshop is organised in the framework of the ARGUS
Horizon Europe project.
The ARGUS project focuses on building a sustainable and dynamic decision support system (DSS) that integrates multi-scale datasets, including GIS, remote sensing and in situ sensor data, to support adaptive heritage management. These digital twins serve as tools for real-time monitoring and risk assessment, but also as critical digital archives, ensuring the preservation of cultural heritage even in adverse circumstances. In scenarios where physical heritage is at risk of severe damage, digital twins can also provide accurate reference models for restoration or reconstruction. This example highlights the role of cybersecurity in protecting digital repositories used in heritage protection from potential threats. The workshop will be held in unction with the IEEE CH 2025 conference as a hybrid event, during September 8–10, 2025.
Prospective authors are encouraged to submit previously unpublished contributions from a broad range of topics, which include but are not limited to the following:
Topic of Interest
› Digital twins and data integration for heritage preservation
› Cybersecurity and infrastructure for digital heritage
› AI and risk management
› Conservation strategies and case studies
